Oaksterdam University is recognized as the first cannabis college in the United States and has an Alumni base of 40,000, many of whom have gone on to become cannabis industry leaders. Oaksterdam was built on a foundation of activism for medical cannabis patients and has been instrumental in advancing the conversation about Federal legality throughout this country. Our Executive Chancellor, Dale Sky Jones explained OU best when she said “What really separates us from other cannabis universities is we have always been here. We have survived a four-agency raid. We have survived a fire. We are surviving COVID. There's no one like us.”
Oaksterdam's faculty is comprised of cannabis industry experts and practitioners with deep roots in the subject matter, business, and activism. Our faculty advises governments and agencies on cannabis policy and help write trailblazing marijuana legalization laws such as Prop 215, Senate Bill 420 and Prop 64.
Other cannabis training programs tend to place more emphasis on growing techniques, rather than shining a light on activism and policy, which are both essential for the industry to thrive. The cannabis industry, despite ongoing legalization, remains on uneven ground, and at OU, We don't just teach what you want to know, we teach you what you need to know.
